Charging Your Gemstones
Hello lovely souls! Are you wondering how to charge / cleanse your gemstones? While there are several ways to do so, here are the three ways I recommend.
- Leave your stones in sunlight for a few hours to recharge them. While I love this method and definitely prefer it over moon charging, there are still some stones that can not handle being left in the sun. If yours makes the list below, please choose one of the other two methods. Opal, Amethyst, Fluorite, Quartz, Turquoise, Citrine, Ametrine, Morganite (Beryl), Aquamarine, Calcite, Chrysoprase, Amagreen, Hiddenite, Super Seven, Spirit Quartz, Prasiolite, Apophyllite, Rose Quartz, Celestite, Sapphire, Kunzite, Topaz, and Smoky Quartz.
- You can charge your stones by smudging. This is a process where you take a sage smudge stick (normally white sage), light it, and let the smoke cleanse your stones. You can also say some words of intent whilst cleansing. Use a fire proof bowl below the smudge stick as a fire precaution. Embers tend to fall from the stick at times. A common misconception is that sage only clears negative energy. Remember if you are doing a sage cleanse, it will clear out all energy and you will start over with a clean slate.
- You can charge your stones on a piece of selenite slab. Just place the piece fully on the selenite and leave for a few hours. Selenite is a great stone as it never needs cleansing itself and can cleanse all of your other stones.
These are my favorite three methods, but there are many more you can explore. Some are water cleansing, moonlight, burying the stones, rice, singing bowls, white light, or by your own intentions.
It's up to you how often you cleanse / charge your pieces. Your intuition will normally tip you off when this needs to be done. I also like to cleanse my stones after someone else has touched them, as it can embed the energy of the other person.
Enjoy your charging ceremony!
